Broadmoor Hospital was originally completed in 1863 and was built to house those that were clinically insane. Additions to the building have been made over the years to specifically house men which has included notorious reprobates such as Ronald Kray and Peter Sutcliffe.
More recently Kier Construction was awarded £242m to complete a new building project within the existing estate. The project will see the 150-year-old estate be transformed into a fit-for-purpose facility that will enhance quality, safety and security as well as producing greater efficiencies when the new patients arrive in 2017.
Pegler was used to provide products for heating and cooling as well as hot and cold water systems. A range of valves were also used to provide the new buildings with greater comfort and efficiency. TMVs, in particular, support the aim of enhancing safety predominantly in the delivery of safe to use hot water.
