Sunderland Royal Hospital has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme of its A&E department and adjoining wards. In addition, the project incorporated a new building which had to seamlessly link with the old existing building and architecture. The £16m project was delivered by Wilmott Dixon with H Malone & Sons delivering the M&E services.
Within a challenging environment where wards and theatres were in continual live operation, the consideration to use products and processes that minimized disruption was essential. H Malone & Sons chose Pegler as their preferred supplier of products and solutions for the heating and domestic services. The products used incorporated VSH XPress carbon and copper along with VSH Tectite and a range of Pegler Valves including press end technology. These combined provided an integrated piping solution that offered a heat free application and supported an ease of installation particularly where space was confined.
